Who is Workstep for?

Workstep is for disabled people or people who have a health condition that makes getting or
keeping a job difficult.

What is Workstep?

Workstep aims to bridge the gap between employers and disabled people who want to
work or who are struggling to hold down a job.

Workstep offers:

  • an opportunity to develop your skills
  • be more independent
  • matching of your skills with the needs of local employers
  • practical and ongoing support for you and your employer

work or who are struggling to hold down a job.

How it works
We have a dedicated and experienced team to work with you to find out what you want to
do and how we can help. By assessing your skills and learning needs we can work with you to draw up a personal development plan that details how we will support you to find a job or help you retain your job.

Workstep offers a wide range of support for both disabled people and employers including:

  • individual advice and guidance on employment issues
  • an assessment of your skills, abilities and aspirations based on the things you can do, not the things you can't
  • supported work placementsif you need them
  • support with finding a suitable job
  • help with sorting out welfarebenefits and applying for in work benefits i.e. tax credits
  • ongoing support when you start work for as long as you or your employer need it
  • regular visits to see you at work to monitor and review your progress and to help you sort out any problems

All we need from you is:

  • your enthusiasm, commitment and a genuine desire to work
  • accurate information about yourself, so that we can find work that best suits you 
  • a commitment to work at
    least 16 hours per week
