Before you start- IF YOU ARE CLAIMING BENEFITS...Sign off at the Jobcentre as you may be entitled to claim other benefits when you start work
- IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY CLAIMING HOUSING BENEFIT AND COUNCIL TAX BENEFIT...let them know your circumstances have changed as you may still be entitled to claim even if you are working
- Talk to someone about getting prepared to start your new job, either a friend or relative, or pop into one of our organisations for help if you are unsure
The first day....- Try and relax and get up in plenty of time to get yourself ready
- Make sure you are clean and presentable...remember first impressions last!
- Plan your route so you are not late
- Aim to be there 10-15 minutes early, it's much better than being late on your first day
- Don't be worried about asking for help when you get there, they will expect some questions, it is your first day after all!
The First Few Weeks..- The first few weeks of a new job are the hardest..be prepared to struggle a little whilst you get used to it
- You will soon start to make new friends
- If there are problems talk to you manager and they should be able to help
- There is always help available if things really don't work out
- Don't just walk out if things are going wrong ...call one of our centres first and ask for advice
